This week

We do not have a working dishwasher in our house yet,
so the boys are learning how to wash dishes by hand.

Although not as spectacular as the sunrises and sunsets in El Paso,
it is still pretty cool to wake up to this.
And it has trees. Winter trees, but trees nonetheless.
I cannot wait until Spring.

Since this was my parents house and they gave it to us,
there is still a lot of their stuff here.
With her stuff and my stuff, there is two or three of everything.
I am having to decide what to keep and what to donate.
It is taking a lot of time.

My mom has some wonderful antiques.
I adore them and I am keeping as many as I find.

Like this 28 year calendar.
I am still trying to figure out if I can line it up for this year.

These are tiny copper pencil sharpeners.
There are about 10 more, but these are my favorites.

Hurricane lamps? Yes, please.

The boys are loving their new schools.
And they get to ride the bus for the first time.
They say it's an adventure.

I got tired of unpacking my stuff and packing up my moms,
so I took a break and did some decorating on my new bathroom.

I found these shelves at a thrift store and painted them all white.
I have two more, but I am not sure where they are going to go yet.
So far, I am in love with it. It is so bright and airy.
I can't wait until the rest of my stuff gets here and I can finish it.

Jerry and Trina get here in about 10 days.
Then I think it will feel more like home.
Right now, it still feels temporary.

Also, could I ask for your prayers?
We are starting to look for a home church tomorrow.
I hate church shopping, so I am praying that
God provides our church quickly and painlessly.

  1. First time commenting on your blog; just started following it a few weeks ago. Looks like you are getting settled into your new home. I like how you are embracing your parents' stuff and deciding what you are going to keep and what you will pass on. We had (still doing) a similar thing in hubby inherited one of his parents' houses; they still had all their stuff in it; its been a work of progress for two years; we're keeping less than we are giving away just because they had so much.

Will say a prayer about finding the right church. We've moved a lot so I know how it is to find that right church. This last move we did, it took us five weeks to find a church, which was longer than previous times; I was getting a bit antsy, but God did provide a wonderful one for us. Strangely, three of the last four churches we've gone to, our dog has been instrumental in helping to find the church (mainly through walking him and talking with people; amazing how God's timing is :)

how cute with the boys washing dishes; it is a fun thing to do every once in awhile :)

    1. Hi, Betty! It's nice to meet you. I am really having fun going through stuff with my mom. She is having a hard time letting go of some stuff, but for the most part she is ready to scale down a lot.
It's pretty weird for me to know this is the last move for us. Unless God has other plans, of course.

  2. It all sounds so exciting! I'm glad that the boys are enjoying their new school so much. That is so important. And yes, riding the bus is a big deal. My boys love it too. ;)
Will send prayers your way that the perfect church just falls into your laps. :)
