A Good Week

I am focusing on the positive aspects of my life right now.

I have been blessed in so many ways.
I choose to acknowledge them.

Last week was one of those blessings..
My mother in law won tickets to a Rangers game.
Her first thought was of me.
She knows how much I adore baseball and how much I love my Rangers
So, we gathered up the girls for a good time.
I am trying to teach my daughter to love baseball as much as I do.
I am not sure it's working.
She's 16 and doesn't know much about the game at all.
She's learning and we had a great time together.

Over the weekend, we had a family reunion.
Our family hasn't been able to go to many of them over the years
due to us being in the Army.
We had stopped having them for the past few years,
but it was time to start up again.
My mom and I worked hard to get it up and going again.
I am so glad we did.
A wonderful time was had by all.

Lots of prayer, baseball, laughter, and shenanigans.

It's been crazy busy with the kids starting back to school,
construction still going on in the house,
and all of us going separate ways a lot.

It's always nice to stop, have some tea, and enjoy life.
That's what I plan on doing.

That, and enjoy sunsets.

It's the little things.
I am trying to remember that.

Boys Room Finished

Well, finished is a relative term.

When we moved into the house my mom gave me after Jerry got out
of the Army, I knew it would take a lot to get it to my dream house.

Josh and James have moved around in the house while we worked on
one project after another.

First, they stayed in the master bedroom until we turned that into
the living room/entryway.

Then, they moved into the tiny dining room with barely
enough space for two beds.

I knew it was time to get busy building their room.

I always intended to convert the front porch to their room.

It was big and I knew it wouldn't take much since the
basic structure was already there.

So, two months ago, we finally got started.

The first step was to take off the green porch roofing.
I hated that stuff.
So glad to see it go.

Next, we had to put on a new roof, build more studs for the walls,
lay down the new floor, and put up the walls inside and out.
I was too busy working and sweating to get pictures.
Sorry!

Once, the walls were up, we got the windows in
and built the new closet.
It was almost ready for paint.

Yes, there's an outside door in the boys room.
No, they won't be allowed to go in and out of it.
It will be locked.
But this will either be my office or a living room
after the boys move out, so I wanted a door.
It will open onto the wrap around porch eventually.

I let the boys choose the colors.
Josh chose the walls.
James chose the trim.
I have to admit, I was nervous about the blue walls,
but I think it turned out very well.
Definitely a boys room.

Here is the finished product.
It is so nice and shiny and clean.
We'll see how long that lasts.

There will be shelves in the closet and a clothes rod.
But, I was too impatient to wait for those before I took pictures.
The boys are 10 and 12.
By the time those get installed, the room will probably be a disaster.
And I wanted to show you the pretty new room.

Summer 2014

I have been woefully negligent on my blog this year.
I make no excuses, except I am in a personal faith crisis
and I am working through it.
Slowly.

I did, however, still manage to document our summer
pretty well.

It was filled with blackberries.

In N Out burger trips.

Scary stories by candlelight.

Playing in the rain.

And a baptism.

Then there was the annual back to school war.
We chose a color war this year.
It made for some pretty cool pictures.

Finally, it was time for school to start.
Hallelujah!
This is what you get when you try to get a picture of the first day of school.
I love having boys.

And now I can enjoy my morning coffee in peace.

Until about 4 o'clock.
Then the chaos starts again.

Scavenger Hunt Sunday

I love taking pictures so much.

I really need to get back to doing it more consistently.

I am linking up with Ashley again for

 Pink

Spring and summer offers loads of opportunities for colorful shots.

Wheel

Driving the boat for our anniversary cruise. So much fun.

Friends

It seems like my kids are only friends when it has to do with Doctor Who.
Fish fingers and custard. YUM!

Emotion

So much joy in that face.

Sweet

Fresh blueberries from the berry farm.
They made an excellent berry cobbler.

Next week:

1. Red
2. White
3. Blue
4. Play
5. Sparkle

16 Years

Last Friday my husband and I celebrated 16 years of marriage.

16 years.

Sometimes, it seems like forever ago.
Other times, it feels like it was just yesterday.

There were times I thought we weren't going to make it.
But, we were both committed and decided that no matter what,
God joined us together and we would stay together.

I am so glad we have.

To celebrate, Jerry surprised me with a date to remember.

He saw how much I love the cruise we went on a few weeks ago
and knowing there was no way we could afford that again anytime soon,
he took me out for a sunset cruise on the lake.

I tried guessing all week what he had planned, but that scenario never crossed my mind.
He was very proud of himself.
And I was thrilled with the date.

 He piloted us.....

While I enjoyed the sun and the water.

I decided I wanted to drive us, too.

We had dinner and wine and cheesecake.
All my favorites.

It was a perfect date.
Sun, water, wine, and a gorgeous sunset.

I am so glad I said "I do" all those many years ago.

Here's for going another 70 together.

Who Am I?

You know all those quizzes floating around Facebook?

Yes, you do! You see them practically everyday.
And you've taken them.

Me, too.

So, according to Facebook quizzes, this is who I am...

I am Princess Aurora.

I should live in Star's Hollow.

In a Victorian house.

Married to my prince, Thor.

But, I am originally from Krypton.

And I should retire in Santorini, Greece.

Also, I am most likely to get arrested with Jennifer Lawrence.

Yep, that all sounds about right.
