SHS Easter 2013

Happy Easter!

"Living He loved me,
Dying He saved me
And buried He carried my sins far away
Rising He justified freely forever
One day He's coming,
Oh, glorious day,
Oh, glorious day"

Casting Crowns

On to the Scavenger Hunt....

Water
I do so love living by a lake.
So peaceful and calming.

Empty
My husband built me some bookshelves last week.
Trust me, they won't be empty for long.

Fresh
Is there anything more fresh than crisp, beautiful white flowers?

Weathered
This gorgeous old greenhouse was at a local antique store.
They wanted too much for it, but I am pretty sure
I can make one myself.

Ordinary
Just an ordinary picnic with the kids.
Josh taking the picture,
James making faces.  :)

Have a wonderful, blessed week.
For Christ is risen indeed!

Backyard Birthdays, Baby Showers, and Babies

It was a crazy busy weekend for our family.
Full of lots of celebrating an junk food.

My oldest son turned 11 on Friday.
I took cupcakes up to the school at lunch for him.
It was really amusing to watch the fighting
over who got to share them.

But who could blame them?
They were chocolate, after all.

He decided he wanted to roast hot dogs over the fire for his party.
I am totally ok with that.
No cooking for me.

Katrina thinks she is the only normal one in our family.
She might be right.

There is just not a non messy way to eat smores.

I love the excitement on his face.
Totally fake, though.
He helped pick out his present, so he was pretending to be surprised.

Then on Saturday, we celebrated the newest addition to the family.
My beautiful niece is going to have a baby this summer.
I am thrilled to pieces!
Another baby to spoil.

Isn't she just adorable?
Although I don't feel old enough to be a Great Aunt.

 The happy couple opeing gifts.
They made out like bandits.
I never got that much stuff when my babies were born.
Adorable and spoiled.

Daddy-to-be and Grandma-to-be in the games.
I suppose youth has its advantages.

Apparently you never outgrow sibling rivalry.

Four generations right here.
If you count the one on the inside.
And I do.

Speaking of babies, I got to spend time with my youngest niece and nephew this weekend.

Kinda makes me want another one.

Nah, I'll just spoil these and send them back.

SHS 3/24

I got to pick the theme this week.

To be honest with you, I picked all of these because
I already had the pictures to go with it.

I know, I know. I'm a cheater.

But it made for more time to finish some projects.

Asian
There is a Japanese garden at Ft Bliss.
It makes for some awesome pictures
as well as a peaceful afternoon.

Wavy
I love how the clouds look like ocean waves.
God is so awesome!

Draw
Josh drew this for his dad in school.
If you knew my husband, you'd know how appropriate it is.

Soft
I love how both the flowers and the leaves are soft.
And they smell amazing.

Texture
This is the texture on the hallway between Trina's bedroom and bathroom.
She and I worked on it until it was perfect.
Now to add the sparkle paint to it.

Next week:

Ahhh....Spring

It's here. It's here.
It's finally here.

The sun is shining.
The temperatures are in the 70's.
The birds are singing.

But most of all, the flowers are blooming.

Yes, little birdie, keep singing.
I am as happy as you are.

For all my Northern friends, I am sorry for ruining your day.
For all my Southern friends, let's have a BBQ.

Happy Spring!

10 on 10

I know, I know. I am a couple of days late with this post.

I meant to have it up Monday, but life got in the way.
As usual.

7am: Breakfast of champions.

8am: Doing dishes...bleh!

9am: Doing Laundry...bleh!

10am: Getting ready to plant my peppers...yeah!

11am: Getting started on yet another project.

12pm: A little Easter decorating.

1pm: Making new friends. Whatever the species.

2pm: Trina finally beat Daddy after a good lesson.

3pm: Some people do a beer run. We do a Sonic run.

4pm: Some down time with Mary Poppins.

I am trying to learn to slow down, to enjoy right now.
Things are pretty chaotic, but a glimpse of an
ordinary day puts things into better perspective.

I know one day I will look back on this time
with fondness and remember the good, quality time
and not the chaos and uncertainty.
God is so good to me!

8 Things

Katrina's room is almost done.
She how has shelves and an enormous bookcase.
I wish I had had such a cool room when I was 15.

There is nothing better than a roaring fire in the middle of winter.
Except maybe roasting marshmallows on it.
Alas, we had none.  :(

Have you tried these?
Do yourself a favor.  Do.
They are amazing!

My bathroom is finally all the way complete.
I will post more pictures of the details later.

I love that my Jerry loves his kids so much.
Even if he never lets them win.

The Spring bug has bitten me hard.
These are just a few of the things I have planted over the last couple of days.
Plus about half of my vegetable garden.

If you are ever in Tyler, Texas, this is the place to eat.
It is wonderful! Trust me.

My brand new salt and pepper shakers.
Got them from a flea market last weekend.
Perfection.

This has been a Public Service Announcement
brought to you by the letter L.
