Homemade Applesauce

My best friend is from Michigan.
She has lived in Texas now for 30 years.
But she still raves about the fresh fruits from up north.

Since it is prime apple picking time, and her parents were coming down south,
I asked for a batch of them to see if the hype was true.

When I asked for a batch, I didn't anticipate getting about 100 apples!

So, what do you do when you have an overabundance?
Make applesauce!

I was going to make apple pie filling, but the apples were too grainy and soft for that.
So, applesauce it turned out to be.

Step one:
Peel and peel and peel apples!
This is only one bowl. I had three.

Step two:
Cook apples.
I made two batches.
One with cinnamon and one without.

Step three:
Can those babies!

Step four:
Admire your handiwork.

Step five:
Eat and enjoy!
Yum! Warm, fresh applesauce.

I think I might open one and have it on vanilla ice cream.

Have a great weekend, friends!

  1. They look delicious sitting in the bowl before you started working on them. Looks like a great recipe to follow too for it. I would have to have some myself over vanilla ice cream too :)

    enjoy!

  2. Yes! I love making homemade applesauce and my family loves eating it. We are off to the pumpkin farm/apple orchard this weekend so I can get plenty of apples. :)

    Looks delicious!
