This week I am so thankful for the friends who have graced my life. One in particular means a lot to me. We met in middle school and continued our friendship through the years.
Holly Enloe Wells and I were born two days apart and we loved to tell people that we were twins. And they always believed us. Because we looked oh so much alike, right?
When my family moved away from Weatherford when I was in the 9th grade, I was devastated. I loved my life there and I was going to miss all my friends and the school where I was comfortable. Holly knew what I was going through and helped me a lot. Her family offered to take me in and let me go to school in Weatherford. My mom was reluctant at first, but she knew how miserable I was, so she allowed it. I moved in with Holly and her family that summer and lived with them throughout high school.
I took it for granted then, but now I know what a wonderful, loving thing that was. I learned so much in those years. What living a Christian life looked like, what peace was in a family, and a lot of love!
Holly was my sister in all the ways that counted and I was so thankful for her. We were on the drill team together and practically did everything together. It really was wonderful.
After graduation, we began our own lives and drifted apart, but to this day I know she has my back and anytime I need a place to be, she will open her house to me and my family, just like her parents did all those years ago.
Many things have changes over the years...
But true friends never change.
And for that, I will always be thankful!
