Relax

It's been an absolute crazy week around the Lantz household.

I feel like I am always running somewhere.
Doctor's appointments, boy scouts, church services, etc.

There is never enough time for a break.

Why do we feel we need to fill our time all the time?
Why don't we just relax and do nothing for a change?
What would we lose?
What do we think we are going to gain?

This weekend I am taking a break.
I am just going to relax and enjoy my husband and my kids.

No chores, no events.
Just family time.

"The time to relax is when you don't have time for it."
Sydney J. Harris

"He enjoys true leisure who has time to improve his soul's estate."
Henry David Thoreau

Maybe, just maybe the calmness and peace will spill over into next week.

SHS 11/12

It was an extremely busy Sunday for us yesterday so I am a little behind on getting my scavenger hunt photos up.

But, better late than never.

Nature

I tried and tried to get a good shot of this butterfly? moth? but he was just to fast for me.
That's ok, at least it's a pretty shot of the Lantana.

Vintage or Retro

Is there anything more vintage than a classic book?
I love the classics.

Whimsical

There is a cute little Japanese garden on post.
It is a nice, whimsical place to visit.

Cooking

Well, the aftermath of cooking, anyway.

Week's Best

The boys had a Nerf gun fight with Daddy over the weekend.
It was World War III around here.
I'll have more on that later.

I got to pick next week's assignment.
I am so excited!

Ten on Ten - November

I am starting a new photography challenge this month.

Rebekah over at a bit of sunshine is hosting a project where once a month on the tenth taking a photo an hour for ten consecutive hours. Finding life and beauty in the ordinary things of our day to day.

I started this morning going for 10 hours taking pictures of my day.

Morning coffee and computer games before getting the kids up and ready for school.

 Breakfast is served.

I adore this picture that hangs on my kitchen wall.
It serves as a daily reminder of who we are to the King.

A trip to Wally World for a shipping box.
Talked a worker out of one the were emptying, so I didn't have to buy it.

Finally got to the post office to send my Christmas ornament

My few surviving plants still need a little TLC.
I don't know how much longer they are going to last.

The boys for home from school.
Let the antics begin.

Along with the myriads of paperwork that always accompanies the end of the week.

The boys and I ended up going out for dinner.
Mexican, of course.

A gorgeous sunset to end my day.

Friday Letters

Dear WalMart, Target, Hobby Lobby, etc.,
Please stop shoving Christmas down our throats.
I would like to enjoy each holiday before starting to think about the next one.

Dear Daylight Savings Time,
Being this dark at 5pm is not cool.

Dear baked oatmeal,
You are so delicious. I think I will make you again.

Dear Yard Sale,
Thank you for having this unique globe to add to my collection.

Dear Friday movie night,
I am happy you are finally here.
We need some family time.

Happy weekend, everyone!

I Vote...

In honor of Election Day...

I vote that husbands have to do the dishes more often.

I vote that every town be required to have a hands on Science museum.

I vote that brownie batter be added to the food groups.

While I am at it, I vote that birthday cakes are not only for birthdays.
They can be eaten all year long.

I vote for locking up the kids in fake jails from time to time.
Then, run away!

I vote for people to travel Route 66 at least once.

I vote for everyone to exercise their right and privilege to vote today.
Because people like my husband protect that right.

So, go now and vote!

SHS 11/04

Hello everyone.

I hope you are having as fabulous weekend as I am.

It was my birthday yesterday and my daughter made me
cheesecake while I was out on a date with my husband.

It was incredibly thoughtful of her.
Either that, or she was trying to get out of chores.
Doesn't matter, it was delicious!!

Now, on to the  Scavenger Hunt for this week.

Some of these were a little hard to come up with something.
I finally found my inspiration when I went to Hobby Lobby with my husband
on our date. (Don't ask, that's just how we roll)

Wild

The kids loved the "wild" snake while we were in Albuquerque.
Better them than me is what I have to say.

Welcome

I found this sign at Hobby Lobby in the baseball section.
I totally want it to go above the front door of my house.

Adventure

I had to go into my archives for this one.
I had a wonderful adventure last March on a woman's retreat.
This was one of the highlights.
Line jumping, it was such a rush!

Vibrant

This was another Hobby Lobby find.
I adore these picture frames.
I cannot imagine what pictures you could put in one of them
that wouldn't be completely outdone by these crazy colors.

Classic

My husband fell in love with all these classics.
He wants all of them for his office.
I agree, they are pretty cool.
