SHS

I am going to be honest with you. This week was so busy I didn't take a lot of pictures during the week.
All the photos from the Scavenger Hunt this week were taking in about 5 minutes.

I think I did pretty well with stuff around the house.

Simple

I think my Dianthus flowers are simply gorgeous.

Grain

Brown rice is a staple around my house. It's has a bad rap, but I think it's awesome.

Transportation

This is my son's current favorite hot wheels. Don't you wish they would make real cars this cool?

Stitch

I did this cross stitch a couple of years ago, but it is still my favorite. The colors are fantastic.

Bubbles

I had a hard time getting a good bubble picture until I was ready to start dinner. Then it was right there in front of me. Score!

Join me for Scavenger Hunt Sunday.

Next week's pictures:

  2. Something that makes or made you smile

You Capture Easter/Pastels

I adore Spring. The warmth, the newness, the flowers, the greenery. Well, not around these parts so much. But I hear about it in other, more verdant places.
Someday...

But for now, I will just enjoy where God has placed us. And look for the goodness in the desert.

Some of that goodness is in the form of our church. We found it pretty quickly after we arrived here in El Paso and I am so very thankful for it.
I always say it's the people that make a church special and this one is no exception. Don't get me wrong, I love the messages and being able to serve others. But, I absolutely adore the friendships we have made in our wonderful little church.

We celebrated Easter Sunday with an awesome message, a delicious potluck dinner, and an amusing egg hunt.
It is funny to see the kids hunting eggs on gravel and a playground because we don't have any grass or real tress to hide the eggs properly.

But the kids had fun, nonetheless.

After church, we searched for a place to go and let the kids hang out and hunt eggs again.
We found one of the only green spots in the town I think.

The boys were so thrilled with the soft grass, they wanted to play in it all day.
Or at least take a nap.

I can't say I blame them.
When you find grass around here, it's best to take advantage of it.

And since I am linking up with You Capture this week for Easter/Pastel here are a couple of Pastel shots, too.

Come over and join us next week at You Capture.

The theme will be Chocolate.

Scavenger Hunt Sunday

I really wanted to do something different with this weeks pictures in the scavenger hunt.
I hope you like them.

New

I had a hard time with this one until my husband brought this little guy over while the kiddos were hunting eggs. He looks brand new to me.

Life

Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life."

Fragrant

This is my current favorite perfume. Pretty soon, I am going to have to get another one.

Pink

My daughter's Easter basket. She says she is not too old to hunt eggs. Who am I to argue. I say let them be little as long as they can. Kids grow up too quickly these days anyway.

Obvious

Isn't it obvious how incredibly blessed I am?

Come on over to Ashley's site and join in the fun next week.

The assignment next week:

  1. Simple
  2. Grain
  3. Transportation
  4. Stitch
  5. Bubble(s)

Yard Sale/Boy Scouts

Last weekend was kinda crazy around the Lantz household.
Our 14 year old daughter has been trying to raise money for a mission trip this summer to Haiti. She has been working very hard and has managed to raise most of the money by working instead of a lot of donations.

We had a yard sale last Friday and Saturday. Our church donated a ton of stuff to help out. We were so busy setting up and selling stuff I didn't get a lot of pictures. But I did manage to get one good one.

And this was after we had already sold a couple hundred dollars worth of stuff. I kept having to leave and pick stuff up that people wanted to donate.
I would do the same. If someone offered to come get my old stuff and I didn't have to organize it and put on a yard sale, I would totally jump on it.
We don't do yard sales very often because I hate all the prepping and organizing that goes into it.
Katrina was a trooper, though. She worked very hard and did most of the work.
It is for her after all.
She ended up making about $650 over the weekend. I was amazed!
And so proud of her.
She is so close to making what she needs to go to Haiti. I am praying that this is a positive experience for her and she comes back brimming with stories of what God can do.
If you think of it, please pray for her, too. It's hard to send your baby off to another country.
Even if it is for a good cause.

While Katrina and I were busy with the yard sale, Jerry took the boys to their annual Boy Scout Pine Wood Derby.

Don't they just look adorable in their uniforms?

Apparently Jamie managed to beat Josh several times with his car. The funny thing about it is that Jamie is using Josh's car from last year because the one that he made for this year broke and there wasn't time to fix it before the race.
A fact that Josh kept reminding him. It didn't matter though. Jamie was thrilled to be able to beat Josh.
Ahhh, the joys of brotherly love!

We spent Sunday getting rid of all the stuff that didn't sell in the yard sale and cleaning the yard for Spring.

This shelf didn't sell and I quickly confiscated it for myself.
It was originally a tall shelf to go over a washer and dyer, but Jerry shortened it for me, moved it to the shady corner of the patio, and put most of my plants on it.
I like it. And I am hoping to be able to keep them alive through the desert summer.

Especially this one.

This is my blackberry bush. I thought I had killed it after last summer but it came back this year.
And so far, it looks good.
I am really hoping for some yummy blackberries this year.
I think I will make a cobbler with them.
Or a pie.
Or maybe jam.

I suppose I should wait to see if it lives first.

You Capture

I was very excited to learn the theme for You Capture this week.

The assignment was White.
 Easy peasy!

These are some of the pictures I have taken in recent weeks.
White seems to be very prominent in my life.

This was from a freak hail storm a couple of weeks ago. These were gone within five minutes of falling.

I found these ice shards on my retreat to New Mexico and immediately fell in love with the look.

I like the contrast between the white and green on this one.

My white Narcissus flowers. They are so pretty and smell amazing.

Josh's birthday cake. It was lemon cake with vanilla icing. Yummy!

Josh at White Sands, New Mexico. The boys had a ton of fun playing in the sand. And they brought a ton of it back home with them.

Come join us for You Capture.
Next week is Easter/Pastels

It's time for the scavenger hunt again.

I am loving these assignments. They are challenging me to take different pictures and widen my skills. I am learning a lot from this.

Here are my interpretations this week.

Clouds

This was from a spring storm in El Paso. I didn't have my camera with me, so I took this picture with my phone. I wasn't about to let the opportunity pass.

Sun Flare

This is what greeted me this morning as I was getting ready for church. Usually, I am a sunset person, but I have to admit the sunrises in the desert are pretty spectacular.

Seven

This is my baby. He is seven. Only for another two months, though. That makes me really sad!

High Angle

Apparently my baby was a good subject this week. This was taken at our outing to the park.

Low Angle

My hubby's motorcycle. I am going to ride it again with him soon. Well, as soon as he gets it fixed.
